Although croquet players soldier on through the winter months, lawn bowlers stow their bowls until the sun has warmth, and cherry blossoms, crocus and daffodils pop out. A sunny, warm St. Patrick’s Day was a perfect choice for our first social bowling and croquet event of the season.
Twenty-eight bowlers spread out on the lower lawn in a colorful tableau of green on green to enjoy 8-end triples or doubles. A similar number of croqueteers played the hoops on the upper green.
Games were followed by treats: green tea and a heavy-laden table of decadent donated sweets decorated to reflect the day’s theme. Thanks, as always, goes to the Kitchen Hospitality crew for setting out and cleaning up the goodies and to everyone who shared in making the day so enjoyable.
